"Up From Slavery" Regional Youth Symposium 2005 17th- 20th August

The opportunity to serve as President of the Executive of the UNESCO Clubs Movement of Trinidad & Tobago makes me feel humbled and I wish to thank members of our movement for having that confidence in me.

UNESCO Clubs are significantly poised to offer all persons in civil society and at the grass root level, an excellent opportunuty to make a difference. It is through UNESCO Clubs that one can learn to appreciate the rights of other human beings ; one can come to an understanding of other peoples and their culture and help to preserve the beauty of the Planet Earth which God has provided. Finally, I want to wish you a Happy New Year and remember that through action one can be an agent of CHANGE.
God Bless!!

Yours Respectfully

 Marceline Cooper

UNESCO Clubs President.

PEACE CORNER

"Since wars began in the minds of men it is in the minds of men that the defences of peace must be constructed".

Arguably the most quoted line in the Preamble to UNESCO's Constitution, it gives us a clear idea of when to begin our quest to create peace.

These teen-agers did us proud and held our flag to the highest as they participated in discussions on the following themes:
"Violence as a daily language in the reality of youth."
"Violence in the media and infiction"
"Violence as a substitute language in communication"
"Alternative language to violence" which led to the drafting and signing of the "International Youth Policy" by all present.
They were chosen out of thousands of youths to be interveiwed as model students by the Ministry of Education Barecelona & UNESCO for a documentry entitled "Approaches to youth via the education system"to be aired around the world and also represented our country by hosting a concert at the speaker's corner in the Youth Festival where they put on various cultural items showcasing the culture of Trinidad & Tobago.
